Ellene Gunter

Mrs. Ellene Gunter, 83, of Dalton, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Morningside Assisted Living.

Ellene was born Jan. 22, 1930, in Oconee County, daughter of the late Jesse and Nina Marshall.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Dug Gap Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, M.L. Gunter, in 1985; sister, Frances Marshall and brother, James Marshall.

She is survived by her children, Marion Jr. and Lola Gunter, Linda and Melvin Martel, Allen and Gloria Gunter, all of Dalton; her grandchildren, Janet Suggs and Brian Gunter of North Carolina, Joey Martel, Traci Martel, Craig Gunter and Michael Gunter, all of Dalton; her great-grandchildren, Jonathon Suggs, Daniel Suggs and Avery Gunter of North Carolina, Michael Martel of LaFayette and Noah Martel, Zoey Martel and Brooklyn Gunter of Dalton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Dug Gap Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Bagley and the Rev. Dr. Byron Edens officiating.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband in West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Andy Babb, Dino Gazaway, Gary Hightower, A.J. Johnston, Mitch Mitchell, Steve Smith and Terry Smith.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Love Funeral Home.
