Charles Patterson Sr.



Charles Ray Patterson Sr., 71, of Red Bank, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013.

After 21 years of service, having served two tours in Vietnam, receiving several medals including two Bronze Star Medals, he retired from the Army, 101st Airborne Division.  He also retired from the United States Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Elaine Patterson; mother, Naomi Atchley; and great-grandson, Lucian Mitchell.

Survivors include his sons, Charles R. “Chip” (Kim) Patterson Jr., Richard A. (Michelle) Patterson Sr. and Cliff Patterson Sr.; grandchildren, Emily Mitchell, Richard Patterson, Charles (Kayla) Patterson, Amber (Mitch) Brown, CJ Patterson, Lauryn (Jaime) Smith; six great-grandchildren,  sisters, Sheila Mc Devitt and Brenda Suits; brothers, Thurston (Tammy) Atchley Jr.  and Frank Atchley; sister-in-law, Sandra Brown Holloway; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.  

Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, (423) 877-3524. Visit www.lanefh.com to share condolences.
