Mrs. Ruby Hall, 83, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Friday morning, Nov. 27, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Ruby was born March 7, 1926, in Gordon County, a daughter of the late Cleo and Cecil Serritt. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, James ‘Son’ Hall, who died in 1989; her son, Kenneth Hall, in 1997; and two sons-in-law, Roy Burgess in 1989 and Arvil Parker in 2003; and a brother, Alviln Serritt.
She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law, Mary Burgess, Linda Parker of Calhoun, and Margaret and Cecil Minter of Sugar Valley; four brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Wilma Serritt, Shorty and Petty Serritt, Vernon and Nell Serritt, and Albert Serritt and Cora Serritt; two sisters, Sara Cochran and her husband, Bill, and Betty Jean Gentry, all of Calhoun; nine grandchildren, Roy Burgess Jr., Casey Burgess, Cristy Dalton, Samantha Burgess, Crystal Brock, Tammy Clayton, Timmy Parker, Stephen Parker and Michael Minter; 17 great-grandchildren; and a special great-grandson, Kenneth Burgess.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruby Hall will be held today at 3 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun with the Rev. Gary Tate officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Timmy Parker, Stephen Parker, Roy Burgess, Casey Burgess, Michael Minter and James Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Bobby, Lee, Tyler and Gauge.
Ruby will be laid to rest at Chandlers Cemetery beside her beloved husband and son. The family received friends at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home on Sunday.
