Roger Lee Lay

Mr. Roger Lee Lay, 68, of Chatsworth, departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in the VA Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

Roger was born June 3, 1944, in Oneida, Tenn., a son of the late G.B. and Hazel Lay.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Lay.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Lay of Chatsworth; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Pam Lay of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jerry Taylor of Ringgold, Debbie and Barry Coker of Tampa, Fla., Darlene and Gene Stone of Cohutta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Debbie Lay, Benny Lay of Chatsworth,  Ann Lay of Clinton, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Roger Lee Lay will be Sunday at 8 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with the Rev. Ed Pippin officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Graveside services will be Monday  at 11 a.m. at Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with the American Legion Post 112 in charge of military rites.
