Tracy Jane Higdon Sliger

Tracy Jane Higdon Sliger, 47, of the Short Creek Community near Athens, Tenn., passed away Monday morning, Feb. 6, 2012, at her residence.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church in Riceville. She was a former employee of American Uniform and Exel.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Paul S. Sliger of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Zac Hamilton of Calhoun; one son, Johnny Sliger of Athens and special girlfriend, Shelbey Smith of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.; her father and stepmother, Ernest and Frances Higdon of Farner, Tenn.; her mother and stepfather, Thelma and Gene Padgett of Chatsworth; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Beth Higdon of Etowah, and Joyce and Don Bishop of Cohutta; three step-sisters and spouses, Jeania and Chase Springfield of Cohutta, Renee and Mickey Henderson of Dalton, Carol and Bill Thomasson of Farner, Tenn.; one brother, Dennis Higdon of Cleveland, Tenn.; three step-brothers and spouses, Anthony and Crystal Worthy of Farner, Tenn., Timothy and Alisha Worthy of Farner, Tenn., and Greg Worthy of Farner; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donnie and Robin Sliger of Athens, Tenn.; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and Mike Guffey of Athens, Tenn.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willis and Frankie Sliger of Athens, Tenn.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Short Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis and the Rev. Garry King officiating. Burial will be in Short Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Adam Ingram, Jeff Pittman, D.J. Sliger, Blake Higdon, Ross Sneed, Jerry Boyd, Bubba Kelley and Randy Moss.

Honorary pallbearers will be management and staff of Thunderidge Raceway.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Faye Forgety 120 Co. Rd. 447, Athens, TN 37303 or Hospice of Chattanooga.
