Virginia S. Burnette



MACON — Virginia S. Burnette, 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at a local hospital.  

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Main Gate. The Rev. Steve Waldorf will officiate.  

The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burnette, wife of the late Roy F. Burnette, was born in Dalton, the daughter of the late Horace B. and Clara Glaze Smith. She was an office manager retired from a local printing company and had worked at The Macon Telegraph. Mrs. Burnette was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.   

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Morris Roberts and Betty Sue Henderson and by her brother, John B. Smith.

Survivors include her children, Garland (Patricia Faulkinberry) Burnette of Birmingham, Ala., Amelia B. (Phil) Haynes of Juliette and Randall L. Burnette of Macon; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
