Windred Powell

Mr. Windred Powell, 92, of Dalton, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in the Morningside Assisted Living Facility in Dalton.

Mr. Powell was born in Gordon County on Sept. 21, 1919, to the late Firman L. Powell and Jessie Padgett Powell. He was office manager for the State of Georgia Labor Office, was a member of Blue Ridge Church of Christ and was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Powell of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Linda Powell of Dalton; two grandchildren, Kip (Cathy) Powell and Shannon (Tim) Britton; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Britton, Clay Britton, Elizabeth Powell and Sydney Powell.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Minister Lonnie Jones officiating.

Pallbearers were Bill Burnette, Bill Walden, Billy Johnson, Steve Powell, Kip Powell and Tim Britton.

Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park.
