Barbara Darrene McFarland Smith

Mrs. Barbara Darrene McFarland Smith, 80, of Chatsworth, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at her residence. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Smith; parents, John and Della McFarland; brother, Howell McFarland; son, Howell Scott; stepson, Joseph Smith Jr.; and sister, Margaret Jean Reed.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Earnest Larry and Linda McFarland, James Dennis and Judy McFarland, Charles William (Billy) and Linda McFarland, and Howell Scott McFarland, all of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Juanita and Wilburn Ridley of Chatsworth, and Crystal and Sergio Vargas of Dalton; stepchildren, James (Jimmy) and Rose Smith, Michael Smith, Elisha Smith and Timothy Smith; sister, Mary Waddell of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Margaret McFarland of Cleveland; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, including Nanny’s boy, Seth James; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Smith will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Dr. Levoyd Whitton officiating.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Copperhill, Tenn.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Thursday until the funeral hour.

Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Barbara Darrene McFarland Smith.
