James Robert Burkett, 73, of Dalton, departed this life Friday, July 30, 2010, at Hamilton Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
James was born on July 29, 1937, in Dalton, a son of the late Baxter James and Annie Mae Teems Burkett. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sue Livingston.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Bobbie Jean Wallin Burkett of the residence; his sons and daughters-in-law, Drennon Burkett of Dalton, Nathan and Paula Burkett of Dalton, Ricky Burkett of Ellijay, Phillip Ledford of Dalton and Jerry Ledford of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Jeff Mines of Jasper, Tenn., Lisa and Floyd Balance of Blue Ridge; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Kathy Burkett of Chatsworth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and W.C. Weaver of Ellijay, Ann and Johnny Beavers of Dalton, Gail and Marvin Ray of Chatsworth, Paulette and Ralph England of Chatsworth, and Marilyn and Jackie Womack of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Burkett are Monday at 5 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
