Mr. Marvin Matthew Phillips, 51, of Inverness, Fla., and formerly of Dalton, departed this life Friday, June 22, 2012, in The Villages, Fla., from injuries sustained on a construction site.
Marvin was born Aug. 12, 1960, in Dalton, a son of the late Melvin Douglas and Kathleen Stella Mae Dale Phillips. Melvin was employed by Advance Drywall Systems, Inc.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Phillips and Anthony Wright of Opelika, Ala.; grandchildren, Elijah Matthew Phillips, Jayden Malachi Phillips and Treshun Melvin Phillips; brothers, Buford Phillips of Tampa, Fla., and Johnny Phillips of Madisonville, Tenn.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Ken Smith of Chatsworth, Kathy and Ricky Dotts of Dalton, and Martha Phillips of Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Marvin Matthew Phillips will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Brother George Cross officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his parents at the Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service hour.
