MCDONOUGH (AP) — Police say a 15-year-old Henry County boy has died after he was accidentally shot by his 14-year-old brother at their home near McDonough.
Henry County police Sgt. Joey Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution officers responded to a call at the family’s home shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday and discovered the younger teen had accidentally shot his brother.
Smith said the brother and a friend had gotten the mother’s handgun. Smith said at some point one of the boys loaded the handgun.
Smith said the shooting has been ruled accidental. But he said the facts would be presented to the district attorney and charges could be filed against the mother and the 14-year-old.
Police have not released the names of the mother or her sons.
