ATHENS — An Athens man is in jail on charges that he robbed someone at gunpoint during a child’s birthday party.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/QLkUuA ) 25-year-old Jamaal Akem Ball was arrested Thursday on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and burglary.
Police say the suspect stole $250 from a man hosting the birthday party April 28. Police say Ball drew a snub-nosed pistol from beneath his shirt, pointed it at the man’s head and demanded money. Party guests who knew Ball identified him to police.
When he was arrested nearly four months later, Ball also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on an unrelated charge. It was unknown if Ball had hired an attorney.
