• Army National Guard Pfc. Diana V. Ramos, daughter of Silvia Leon of Dalton and a 2008 graduate of Dalton High School, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, Ramos studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat, weaponry, drill and ceremony marching, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice and basic first aid.
• Navy Seaman Eric J. Jones, son of Bonnie L. and Eric J. Jones of Chatsworth, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Jones is a 2008 graduate of Murray County High School.
• Navy Seaman Recruit James A. Hullender recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Hullender is a 2008 graduate of Southeast High School.
During the eight-week Navy program, Jones and Hullender completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
