Crank it up

Racing back at North Georgia Speedway tonight

Racing returns to North Georgia Speedway tonight with the Chatsworth dirt track hosting its first action of the 2013 season.

Gates will open at 3:30 p.m., with the first green flag dropping at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is $15 (free for children 11 and younger) and admission to the pits is $30.

A full race program is scheduled at the one-third mile clay oval, which hosted regular racing last summer and into the fall after previous struggles to maintain a steady schedule. The im-provements in maintaining regular racing followed Jason Jones’ assumption of duties as the track’s promoter last summer.

Last season, the track awarded points championships for Mod-ified Pony, Modified Hobby, Lim-ited Late Model, Econo Hobby and Crate Late Model dvisions.

Highlights of the 2013 schedule, which currently includes race dates through October, are visits from the Ultimate Super Late Model Series on April 13 and Aug. 3, a stop from the Scheaff-er’s Southern Nationals Series on July 23, the Biddle Ridley Mem-orial on Aug. 31 and several division-specific bonus nights.

November races are to be announced, according to the track’s website, northgaspeedway.net
