Dailey enjoys helping people

Kim Dailey, a “sixth generation” Murray Countian, works in Dalton but hopes to be back in Murray “helping people” as clerk of Superior Court.

A Republican, Dailey faces Donna Flood in the GOP primary on July 31. Incumbent Connie Gallman Reed and Donald Cantrell are battling it out in the Democratic primary.

This is Dailey’s first time running for elected office, but she notes, “I have been a poll worker and a precinct manager for more than 15 years.”

Asked why she is running, she said, “I’m currently a paralegal and office manager at a law firm in Dalton. I really enjoy helping people and I help a lot of Murray County folks and I just want to be back in Murray County helping the citizens. I love Murray County and I just want to see a better government. I’ve got a lot to offer, a lot of experience.”

Dailey said, “I’ve dealt with criminal and civil cases from start to finish, I know the process. I know how the files are supposed to be kept. I’ve dealt with child support ... I’m very familiar with the process of what the court does. I’ve also been a real estate paralegal, so I’m very familiar with how the deeds and the books are supposed to be kept.”

She said her goal is to “ensure the citizens of Murray County, whether they’re paying a fine or restitution, they’re researching a deed, applying for a notary, that they will be treated with professionalism and respect.”

Dailey said she has lived in Murray all of her life, “my family dates back prior to the Civil War.” Her work experience includes stints at Cohutta Bank and Shaw Industries.

She has been married to Tim Dailey for 13 years and has a 10-year-old son, Tucker. The family are members of Chatsworth First United Methodist Church.

“I want to bring some fresh ideas and a new brand of leadership to Murray County,” Dailey said, adding, “As far as a county computer network, I have some workable and cost-effective solutions I believe will greatly benefit the clerk’s office and will also benefit the other Murray County offices as well, where everything is on the same system.”
