Two Kentucky residents were killed Wednesday morning in a crash between a car and a pickup truck towing a boat on Chattanooga Road near the Guest Inn, officials said.
Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier said the Chevrolet Cruze driven by Charles Beckett, 81, of Florence, Ky., pulled out in front of the truck at approximately 6:50 a.m. Donna Beckett, 73, a passenger in the Chevrolet, also died.
Officials said the driver of the Dodge Ram truck had no way to stop. Charles Beckett was turning out of the Guest Inn’s parking lot.
Frazier said the investigation is ongoing, and officials don’t know why Beckett pulled in front of the truck.
