A man was hit by a train Thursday night at railroad tracks near Dalton Fire Station 2 off Abutment Road and taken by ambulance to Hamilton Medical Center, officials said. The extent of the man’s injuries wasn’t immediately available but a police spokesman said they are not believed to be life-threatening.
The call came in to Whitfield 911 at 7:48 p.m.
“Somebody was sitting near the tracks, hanging out, and the train apparently blew its horn and the guy moved from the tracks over to the side of the crosstie and was sitting there,” Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier said. “Apparently the train kind of clipped him a little bit. He was transported to Hamilton Medical Center but he is expected to recover.”
Members of the Dalton Police Department, Dalton Fire Department and Whitfield EMS responded.
