Early/advance voting for the Aug. 21 primary runoff will start Monday and continue through Friday, Aug. 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the elections office in the Whitfield County Courthouse, 205 N. Selvidge St., Suite K.
Also, testing of the voting machines to be used in the runoff will be today at 9:30 a.m. and continue daily until completed, said Kay Staten, chief registrar.

‘It was a brutal time’

Dr. William Blackman opened a box of tools consisting of medical instruments, including a saw, and proceeded to tell visitors how they were used more than a century ago to amputate limbs for soldiers wounded on the battlefield.
