• A Valentine’s banquet is today at 5:30 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church. Jason Cofield, youth director of Whitfield Baptist Church, and his wife, Rebecca, will be the main speakers.



• Calvary Baptist Church in Sugar Valley will host singers Heartfelt from Lindale on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The church is on Bay View Drive.



• The public is invited to meet the new pulpit minister, Bryan Collins, and his family Sunday at a reception tea at the Dalton Central Church of Christ from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the all purpose room. The church is at 515 N. Tibbs Road.

• Steve Fain speaks on “Our Victory in Christ” at Fellowship Bible Church, 2044 Dug Gap Road, Sunday at 10:30 a.m. as part of the “Spiritual Warfare Series.”



• McFarland Baptist Church, 307 Brickyard Road, hosts the singing group Janice Steelman and Friends Sunday at 6 p.m. The pastor is the Rev. Charles E. Rogers.



• Mountain View Baptist Church, 1650 Mill Creek Road in Rocky Face, hosts “Family and Friends Day” Sunday at 11 a.m.



• New Life Baptist Church on Old Grade Road in Dalton announces that Brother Dennis Terry will speak Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Terry is the Texas state director of Rock of Ages Ministries.

• Men’s Day is observed at St. James Overcoming Church of God on Sunday with special guests Elder Robert Pinter and C.H. Ellison. Outreach Overcoming Church of God of Cleveland, Tenn., will be at 3 p.m. Dinner will be served following the morning service.

The church is celebrating Prayer and Missions Day on Sunday, Feb. 26, with special guest the Rev. Jerry Burse and Liberty Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Dinner will be served following the morning service.



• Whitfield Baptist Church hosts the “Rock of Ages Ministries Refresher” Sunday-Friday. Terry Ellis preaches Sunday at 6 p.m., Bob Daughtery preaches Monday night and Ricky Dunsford preaches Wednesday night. Craig Edwards and Pastor Ron McGuire preach Friday night. The services during the week begin at 7 p.m. The church is at 2134 Dug Gap Road. Pastor Wayne Cofield invites everyone to attend.



• Shining Light Baptist Church in Chatsworth holds a Valentine’s Day dinner on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30. Cost is $10 per person or $20 per couple. Bring a sweetheart or come alone. • Mountain View Baptist Church, 1650 Mill Creek Road in Rocky Face, holds a “Falling in Love With Jesus” revival Wednesday through Friday. Frankie Hunt will preach each night and there will be special singings nightly.



• Quinton Mills, an evangelist and singer/songwriter of “I Found the Lily in My Valley,” appears at Valley Brook Church of God in Dalton Feb. 17-19. The Friday and Saturday service will be at 7 p.m., with Sunday services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. For more information, call (770) 548-6653.



• Crosspointe holds a men’s fellowship breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 8 a.m. in the cafe. The special guest speaker is Bruce Edwards, the church’s director of senior adult ministries.



• Restoration Ministry, 12563 Highway 41 in Tunnel Hill, invites the public to a singing with Jim Hill on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. Pastors Mark and Rita Cardin invites the public to attend.



• Mountain Ridge Baptist Church at 1401 Martin Luther King Blvd. will celebrate its annual Women’s Day on Sunday, Feb. 19. The morning service begins at 11, and the afternoon service begins at 3. The special guest for the afternoon service will be First Lady Cynthia Smith and the Hopewell Baptist Church where Elder Wendell Smith is pastor. Lunch will be served immediately after the morning service. All are invited to come and fellowship with us in the name of the Lord. Jerry D. Jones is the pastor of Mountain Ridge Baptist Church.



• The 2 X 2 Quartet will be in concert at Smyrna Baptist Church on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m. The church is on Smyrna Church Road, south of Chatsworth.



• On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25, East Side Baptist Church at 913 E. Morris St. in Dalton, will have a large indoor yard sale in the Family Life Center. This sale was previously announced for Jan. 27-28. Proceeds will be used to retire debt on the church building. Anyone wishing to donate items is asked to call the church at (706) 278-8553.



• First Presbyterian Church of Dalton is offering a Grief Recovery Outreach Program for people who are experiencing the pain and anxiety of loss due to death, divorce or separation. A new class will begin on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This 10-week class will guide those whose lives have been affected by the death of a loved one or the end of a relationship, whether a recent loss or long ago. The program is designed to help people resolve their loss issues and move beyond grief to a richer quality of life. There is a $35 fee which covers the cost of all workshop materials. Scholarships are available.



• A Black History program is Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church. Pastor Samuel R. Jackson and the Union Hill Church family from Chattanooga will be the afternoon guest. A fellowship meal will be held after the morning worship service. The church is at 3527 Airport Road. Pastor Smith invites everyone. For more information, call (706) 383-1116. Hopewell has opened its food bank for the poor, needy and homeless families. • Riverbend Church of Christ opens a benevolent house each Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for area residents in need. Individuals can choose from a variety of clothing, shoes, household items and more at no charge. The ministry is in the white house beside the church on Riverbend Road in Dalton. To donate items, either leave them on the front porch of the house or drop them off during operating hours. All donations are greatly appreciated. Tax receipts are available.



• Open Air Ministries hosts a spring jubilee at Pleasant Valley Park in Eton on Saturday, March 3 beginning at noon. Various preachers and singers will be spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Everyone is invited to attend. For information, contact Brother Tony Weaver at (706) 386-4849.
