Another person has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in which officials said a man was shot in the neck and beat up in September.
Marvin Geovany Guillen, 21, of 100 Marshall Drive, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with armed robbery and aggravated assault. He remained in the Whitfield County jail without bond as of Thursday evening.
Authorities say Guillen was part of a group who targeted Tyler Laney, 21, of Five Springs Road on Sept. 7. Officials said Laney opened the door to his home because he was expecting someone else, but when he did so, someone pointed a handgun at his face.
Laney tried to run, but he was attacked by at least two people, shot and had a few hundred dollars stolen from him, officials said.
Authorities have previously arrested Thomas Brunelle, 20, believed to be living in Ringgold; Brittany Nicole Deal, 22, of 301 Bogle St., Dalton; Christian Joel Hernandez, 29, of 900 Autumn Ridge-8, Dalton; and Miller Helms Horton, 20, of 1308 Dogwood Valley Road, Tunnel Hill.
