A Chatsworth man accused of felony murder in the death of his 4-month-old daughter turned himself in at the Murray County jail Friday morning and was released, authorities said.
Isaac Whaley, 27, of 4796 Highway 286, is also charged with cruelty to a child for the November 2010 death of Jaidyn Alexis Whaley. An autopsy report termed the death a “homicide” with “findings (that are) consistent with accelerated rotational (shaking) mechanism of the head trauma.”
Whaley came into the jail around 10 a.m. and was released an hour later on a $50,000 bond, a jail spokeswoman said.
A Murray County grand jury indicted Whaley on Monday and the indictment was released in Superior Court on Wednesday. Assistant District Attorney Bert Poston, who presented the case, said a $50,000 bond was agreed to by the court and Whaley’s attorney at the time.
Whaley brought his daughter to Murray Medical Center unconscious on Nov. 17, 2010, and she died two days later at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, officials said.
A phone number for Whaley could not be found.
