Good Hope Baptist Church to host wild game supper

You might have eaten venison or rabbit. You might have even tried duck or quail. But if you haven’t, you could get the opportunity at Good Hope Baptist Church’s wild game supper on Saturday, April 6, at the North Georgia Fairgrounds.

This will be the fourth year the church has hosted the supper, which features wild game harvested by church members and others.

“It is 100 percent free. We just want to reach out to the community,” said Shelley Bryson, who is helping to promote the event.

Bryson says the event always features a wide variety of wild game.

“We have had beaver. We have had duck. We have had elk and moose. We have had bear. We’ve had catfish and trout. We’ve had quail. We really never know what they are going to bring in,” she said. “And we’ll have things for people who don’t eat wild game, such as barbecued pork and beef.”

The event begins at 3 p.m., and supper will be served at 6.

In addition to the dinner itself, the event will feature music by the Glory Bound Travelers, a speech by noted hunter and outdoorsman William “Spook” Spann, a leather tanning demonstration by Don “Tsali” Barry and a Georgia Department of Natural Resources hunting simulator.

There will also be activities for children such as archery, a BB gun contest, inflatables and face painting. And there will also be drawings for door prizes.
