The Whitfield County Republican Party’s “Conservative Roundtable” will conduct a forum with all the GOP candidates that have opposition in the primary election on July 31. The forum is Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the group’s local headquarters, 415 E. Walnut Ave., Suite 310.
The primary forum allows each candidate an opportunity to present their platform and address issues from the audience.
The primary candidates with opposition are:
• Jay Neal and Steve Tarvin seeking new District 2 State Representative.
• Bruce Broadrick, Dennis Mock and David Renz seeking State Representative District 4.
• Susan Miller, Jodi Stuckey and Jessica Swinford opposing incumbent Melica Kendrick for clerk of Superior Court.
• Ronald Ownby opposing incumbent Mike Babb for County Commission Chairman.
• Lynn Laughter opposing incumbent Greg Jones for County Commissioner District 4.
Nonpartisan magistrate court judge candidates are:
• Randy Evans opposing incumbent Sidney Baxter.
• Phillip Croy, Don Allen Garrett and Jerry Leonard opposing incumbent Kaye Cope.
Also, there will be explanations and discussions of the ballot questions and the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax and Education SPLOST referendums.
All candidates, opposed or unopposed, and their family, friends and campaign workers along with community conservatives are encouraged to attend, participate and get involved with the 2012 elections.
