The Dalton Police Department’s Traffic Unit is outside Autumn Court Apartments where a 21-year-old male riding a skateboard was hit by a Ford Explorer at the intersection of Centennial Parkway and Autumn Court. The man was taken to Hamilton Medical Center where he was to be transported via LifeFlight to another hospital. His condition is not known and his name is not being released at this time. The male driver of the SUV left the scene on foot, police said. The SUV had a Whitfield County tag. Another skateboarder was present but was not injured, and police said there are several other witnesses. Officials have blocked off the area.
