Looper Speech & Hearing Center will hold its fall benefit luncheon, “Special Arrangements 2009: Fun Festive Fabulous Flowers,” on Oct. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at The Farm Golf Club.
The event opens with a home marketplace and will be highlighted by a floral design luncheon at 11:45 a.m. with well-known designer Buff Adams of Memphis, who will inspire guests with a range of floral ideas for the home.
Event proceeds will benefit the Dalton-based Looper Speech & Hearing Center in its efforts to meet the debilitating and life challenging speech and hearing needs of patients in northwest Georgia. The center, which honors the memory of Dalton’s first pediatrician, Dr. John Looper, relies heavily on private donations and fundraising events to support its mission to provide excellent patient care, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
Looper provides assessment and treatment services for all speech, language, swallowing and hearing problems associated with stroke, head injury, hearing impairment or developmental delay. Since opening its doors in 1969, Looper has provided more than 100,000 patient services and touched the lives of more than 50,000 individuals in the region.
Tickets for “Special Arrangements” are $40 and can be purchased at Looper Speech & Hearing Center at 1011 Professional Blvd. or by calling (706) 226-4623. Seating is limited, and will be offered on a first come, first served basis at the time of ticket purchase.
“Tickets to the event are selling fast,” said Kathie Edwards, Looper president and CEO. “We encourage our friends and supporters to purchase tickets now as we expect a sell-out crowd for this fun event.”
The luncheon’s featured presenter, Adams, is a master gardener and accredited horticulture judge with the Garden Club of America who grows 52 varieties of boxwoods at her home in Memphis. She is a member of the Memphis Garden Club, the Memphis Hydrangea Society and the American Boxwood Society. She will demonstrate how to take homes from simple to fabulous by transforming grocery store bouquets and gathered greenery into “Special Arrangements” for all occasions.
“We are delighted to welcome a design expert of Buff’s caliber to this spectacular lifestyle event,” event chair Tinsley Patterson said. “Buff promises to entertain guests with her effervescent personality, fresh ideas and flair for floral arranging.”
The event marketplace will include original artwork and prints from Chattanooga’s Gallery 1401, live topiaries and orchids, gathered natural items, unique finds and vintage furniture and accessories. A silent auction of three floral-related packages will be available.
Sponsorship and event support is being provided by the Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville, Cheekwood Art and Gardens, Gallery 1401, Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Vanderbilt, Mohawk Industries, Pearl, Dr. William Barnwell, Dr. Frank W. Patterson and Dr. William B. Snipes. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available and will include special recognition at the event and in printed publications. Call (706) 226-4623 for information.
