• Varnell Baptist Church will be in revival Oct. 11 to 14 with the Rev. Randy Perry as guest evangelist. Sunday services begin at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. with remaining services beginning at 7 p.m.

• The men’s ministry of True Gospel Pentecostal Church will sponsor an evening of harmony Oct. 11 at 4 p.m.

• Bruce Vantine’s Cornerstone Chorale and Brass, a widely acclaimed professional touring ensemble, will present a new production, “The Courage to Care,” Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Special guest narrator will be the Rev. R. Michael Shealy.

The program features a unique combination of traditional choral and instrumental music with narration — woven together with newly composed musical themes developing thematically somewhat like motion picture music.

New York music critic Ken Smith wrote of Cornerstone’s Lincoln Center performance, “The Cornerstone Chorale and Brass is a top-notch ensemble with a high level of musicianship. The evening provided a message of great importance.”

• North Georgia M-Night is set for Sunday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, 1448 Pleasant Grove Drive, Dalton.

The speaker will be Dr. Frank Cox, pastor of North Metro First Baptist Church.

Special music will be provided by Associational Choir.

A nursery and children’s church will be provided.



• Gospelway Baptist Church will celebrate Old Fashioned Day and Pastor’s Appreciation Day Oct. 11 at 10:45 a.m.

Special music will be provided by New Direction. Lunch will be served after the service. There will be no evening service.

The church is on Jupiter Circle in the Dawnville community. Pastor Brother Dennis Johns welcomes everyone.



• Riverbend Baptist Church will have its regular first Saturday night singing today at 6 p.m.

The church is on Riverbend Road in Dalton. Pastor Grady Bartley welcomes everyone.



• Maranatha Baptist Church will be in revival Oct. 11 to 16 with Brother Tommy Brown as guest speaker. Sunday services begin at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. with remaining services beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The church is on Ga. Highway 225 South in Murray County. Pastor Donald Young invites the public.



• A teaching session will be held by Dorothy Railey Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at The Depot in Calhoun.

The topic is “Releasing Faith for a Miracle.” Railey and her husband, Crawford, are co-directors of The Atlanta Healing House. They minister internationally to church leadership and others seeking transformation.

• Reign Song will be in concert Sunday at 6 p.m. at Rocky Face Baptist Church.

• The youth of Free Hope Baptist Church will be selling pumpkins, pumpkin cookbooks, Indian corn, gourds and several other items. The pumpkins will arrive after noon, Oct. 17 to be set up on the front lawn of the church pastorium.

Proceeds will fund mission trips. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 19 to 31.

• Concord Baptist Church will have a fall festival Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. with magician-ventriloquist “Tricky Ricky” Henson as special guest.

• Chatsworth First United Methodist Church’s United Methodist Men’s Fellowship will have a chicken plate barbecue Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cherokee and Fourth streets in Chatsworth.

Plates are $6 and include half a chicken, slaw, beans and bread. Dine-in or carryout, with deliveries for orders of 10 or more. Walk-ins are welcome. Proceeds will be used for local charitable works.
