Man pleads guilty to sex acts on strangers

Police say Bryan Kendall Holland committed unwanted sexual acts against several women he didn’t know in at least three different neighborhoods during the past two years.

The 32-year-old Dalton man was sentenced in Whitfield County Superior Court to eight years in prison without parole followed by 12 years on probation after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual battery, interference with government property and possession of methamphetamine.

Capt. Rick Swiney with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office said Holland has an “extensive record.”

On April 15, 2010, officers responded to a Tunnel Hill home where two women who lived there said a black man they didn’t know walked up to the residence and tried to take one of the women’s clothes off, Swiney said records show.

On April 13, 2011, officers responded to a similar incident on Crook Road, which is off of Old Grade Road off of East Walnut Avenue. Swiney said reports show Holland knocked on someone’s door there and asked to speak to “Jennifer.” The female who answered the door told him no one by that name lived there, but when she turned to go back inside, he grabbed her buttocks, Swiney said.

On May, 28, 2011, Holland tried to force his way into an apartment on Dug Gap Road and fondle a woman there, Swiney said.

“None of the victims knew who he was,” Swiney said. “He’s still in jail here.”

Mickey Manfredi, the attorney from the Public Defender’s office who represented Holland, didn’t immediately return a message left at his office.

“This was a plea to the court without a recommendation although the state did agree not to proceed on some other charges in exchange for the guilty pleas in these cases,” said District Attorney Bert Poston.
