Dalton police are searching for answers after the driver of a blue 1984 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck crashed into a concrete retaining wall on Tuesday at about 5 p.m. and died.
Steve Zahn with the Dalton Police Department said evidence at the scene suggests the truck was headed west on Grace Street when it left the road and “for an unknown reason ... struck a concrete retaining wall near the intersection of Grace Street and Needham Drive.”
Zahn said the driver, a female adult whose name hasn’t been released, died of blunt force trauma.
“We’ve got some information from the scene, but it’s not enough to tell us why she ran off the roadway the way she did,” Zahn said. “We’re trying to find if anybody was in the area that may have seen her run off the roadway.”
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was on Grace Street at that time is asked to contact Chris Cantrell of the traffic enforcement unit at (706) 278-9085, extension 160.
