From Staff Reports
Five years ago, Dalton Middle School math teacher Brandi Moore was named the “Rookie of the Year” for Dalton Public Schools.
Monday night, it was clear that Moore was in the big leagues. She was named the school system’s “Teacher of the Year” during the Board of Education meeting at the central office.
“Our teacher of the year certainly believes that every child can learn, but also understands that learning must be differentiated within the classroom to give every child the support necessary for success,” said Steve Williams, chairman of the Board of Education. “At the beginning of the school year, Brandi sets out to know each of her students.”
Brian Suits, principal of Dalton Middle School, called Moore a “born teacher.”
“Brandi gets better and better and makes the people around her better and better,” he said.
“To hold this honor is unbelievable,” Moore said. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Board members also recognized Teachers of the Year at the system’s other schools:
• Twinkle Chitwood, Roan School
• Janet Johnson, City Park School
• Becky Keck, Blue Ridge School
• Freda Moore-Smith, Brookwood School
• Sanjuana Rodriguez, Park Creek School
• Donna Sponbeger, Westwood School
• Sgt. Maj. Heriberto Vazquez, Dalton High School
