Help sought in fatal accident
State troopers hope people who saw an accident involving a tractor trailer that killed a 27-year-old Shannon woman Saturday night on I-75 in Whitfield County will come forward to help with the investigation.
Courtney Marisa Adcock was helping a friend with a disabled vehicle in a southbound lane of I-75 near the Carbondale exit when she was hit by a tractor carrying two trailers on the side of the interstate at 10:20 p.m., officials said. The driver of the tractor trailer, Patrick Arnold, 39, of Dayton, Ohio, was attempting to move from the right lane after seeing the disabled vehicle when his truck overturned and spilled onto all three lanes of I-75, officials said.
Two people who were helping with the disabled vehicle did not see the accident, said Trooper Stephanie Maddox with the Georgia State Patrol. Adcock’s 2-year-old child was asleep in the car, Maddox said.
Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) are expected to be in Whitfield County later this week to inspect the vehicles and reconstruct the accident, Maddox said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the State Patrol at (706) 272-2200.
