From Staff Reports
A woman who was involved in a two-vehicle wreck on Thursday morning has died due to injuries she sustained in the collision.
The wreck occurred at the intersection of Ridge Road and South Dalton Bypass, said dispatcher Betty Lloyd of the Georgia State Patrol. The report states that the car driven by Sara Sue Whaley Wimpey, 89, failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of a tractor-trailer owned by North Georgia Distributors.
The GSP report was incomplete and did not mention the name of the truck driver or his condition, Lloyd said. He was ejected from his truck when it jackknifed, according to the report.
Wimpey died Saturday morning at Hamilton Medical Center, a spokeswoman there said.
