Locks of Love campaign at Dalton salon

Tease Salon, at 365 Vista Drive, Suite 3, in Dalton, will host a Locks of Love campaign on Aug. 4 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Free haircuts will be provided to participants wishing to donate 10-plus inches of unbleached hair. If you do not meet qualifications to donate hair you may pay for your cut and all proceeds will go toward the Locks of Love organization.

There will be door prizes and food.

    Whitfield County Board of Commission member Harold Brooker initially asked that the freeport exemption rate be accelerated to make Whitfield County more economically appealing to existing and prospective businesses. On Monday, he asked for that vote to be tabled.

  • Stormwater group disbanded

    Dalton Utilities sent a letter earlier this month to other members of the group canceling the meeting scheduled for March 4. The letter said that both Whitfield County and Murray County governments were unwilling to go forward and without their participation it did not make sense to continue.

    Christopher Drake, 33, of 45 Johnson Road, was charged Monday by the sheriff’s office with aggravated sexual battery, sexual battery against a child under 16 (two counts) and child molestation (three counts).

    A supervisor with the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department reported several men fighting at Al Rollins Park near a playground Monday evening, but when police arrived any participants had left, authorities said.
