One injured in wreck
A 54-year-old man was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga Wednesday afternoon after a van he was in ran off an embankment on Cleveland Highway in Varnell. The man’s name was not released because his relatives had not been notified.
Angelia Mansah, 28, of Tunnel Hill, was driving north on Cleveland Highway 71 when her van was hit in the rear by a Ford Taurus driven by Kristie Chastain, 30, of Dalton, said Trooper Mark Campbell with the Georgia State Patrol. The impact caused the van to spin, then go down the embankment, flipping once, Campbell said.
The wreck happened about a mile north of Cleveland Highway’s intersection with Georgia 2.
Four other people were in the van but none were seriously injured, Campbell said.
Chastain was cited for improper lane change and driving without insurance.
