From Staff Reports
At least 40 different languages are spoken in the Dalton area, and people from more than 80 different nations call the place home, according to the Latin American Community Alliance (ACLA).
On Sunday, Aug. 10, ACLA will help Dalton celebrate its diversity by hosting the Dalton International Cultural Expo of 2008 from noon to 6 p.m. in downtown Dalton.
The event is targeted at families and will feature native arts and crafts, as well as music, dance, food, clothing and folklore from the many cultures that make up Dalton.
In addition to celebrating the area’s diversity, organizers say they hope to promote greater participation in the arts. They say they hope the expo becomes an annual event.
Those interested in participating in the expo as an exhibitor, vendor, volunteer or sponsor should contact ACLA at (706) 529-9577 or at alianza@acla-dalton.org. Or you can pick up and drop off an applications at St. Joseph’s Clinic, the Creative Arts Guild, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or La Quinta Inn.
The deadline for exhibitor applications is July 10. The deadline for sponsor applications and vendor applications is July 25.
