Charlie Company, the Georgia Army National Guard unit based in Dalton, has been notified of a summer 2009 deployment to Afghanistan as part of the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. The effort will be part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team will concentrate on training Afghan national security forces, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
