• Carpet Capital Women’s Network will hold its sixth anniversary meeting Sept. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Western Sizzlin’ in Dalton with Jackie Weaver as guest speaker.
Weaver began his musical career by singing in church. He began piano lessons at age 10, and by age 14 he had made his first recording. Weaver’s musical training continued throughout high school and then at Lee College in Cleveland. After college he joined the crusade of Sammy Hall Ministries and began to share his music worldwide.
Weaver has performed in 25 states in the U.S., in Canada and more than six European countries. He has written, produced and recorded many of his works over the years. Weaver has served as music director for 29 years at Trinity United Methodist Church in Dalton.
He and his wife Tobi are members of Trinity and very active in many areas of the church’s ministry.
Weaver is the second man invited to speak to the group. He will share his music ministry and testimony.

• First Presbyterian Church will offer a grief recovery outreach program beginning Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The 10-week program is for people experiencing the pain and anxiety of loss due to death, divorce or separation. It seeks to guide those whose lives have been affected by the death of a loved one or end of a relationship whether a recent loss or long ago. The program is designed to help participants resolve their loss issues and move beyond grief to a richer quality of life.
The cost is $35 which covers all workshop materials. Scholarships are available.
