“You can lose weight, eat as much as you want, feel healthy and look great. With this program it is a dream come true for thousands of people,” states health educator Vivian Raitz.
The Dr. John McDougall Program for Maximum Weight Loss begins at the Dalton Seventh-day Adventist Church, 300 S. Tibbs Road in Dalton, on Monday. Hours are 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is no charge.
In the class’s textbook, “The McDougall Program for Maximum Weight Loss,” McDougall draws on the latest scientific and medical evidence about nutrition, metabolism and hunger to provide a simple weight-loss plan. It features more than 100 healthy and delicious recipes by Mary McDougall, and is packed with all the information and encouragement that participants need.
McDougall is a board-certified internist who has been running a live-in lifestyle program in California for many years. He is in demand for TV talk shows, lecturing, scientific health seminars, etc.
The class will meet weekly for one month (through Oct. 22). The group will make plans from there.
Raitz is a certified vegetarian cuisine instructor who has taught various health seminars in the Dalton area for more than 20 years. Her late husband, Dr. Robert Raitz, did family practice in Dalton for 35 years.
The meetings will include an introduction to the program, group support, DVD food demos by Mary McDougall, recipes and fun. No samples will be served. The textbook is highly recommended for best results with the program and will be available for purchase at the class sessions. Discounted price is $15. Pre-registration is preferred but not mandatory.
