Tony Ingle officially named DSC head basketball coach (Updated 12:30 p.m.)

Dalton native Tony Ingle was announced this morning as the new Dalton State College men’s basketball head coach.

DSC officials held a press conference in the James Brown Center to introduce Ingle. Athletic director Derek Waugh and President John Schwenn spoke to the crowd before handing the microphone to Ingle, who spoke about his reasons for wanting to come to DSC, improvements he wants for the school and plans moving forward in recruiting.

“This is not my program,” Ingle said. “This is not your program. This is our program. And I’m glad to be a part of it.”

The four finalists who visited the campus for in-person interviews were Ingle, a North Whitfield High School graduate and former Kennesaw State University head coach; former University of Tennessee-Chattanooga head coach Henry Dickerson; former Georgia Southern University assistant coach Carl Nash; and former Winthrop University head coach Randy Peele.
