The Western & Atlantic Railroad Tunnel and Museum will once again participate in this year’s Smithsonian “Museum Day” on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can simply print and bring a Museum Day ticket good for two free admissions to the tunnel and museum located at 215 Clisby Austin Road in Tunnel Hill.
Guests will need to go to the Museum Day website at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/, click on the “Find a Museum” tab and type in the Western & Atlantic Railroad Tunnel. Only official Museum Day tickets are eligible for free entry — one ticket per household, for two people.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see and experience the historic 1850 tunnel that completed the first railroad through the Appalachian Mountains. Enjoy a guided tour as you experience the 1,477-foot-long tunnel.
