Saturday, Sept. 8, will be forever etched in the hearts of the Bagley Middle School Braves as a day of tragedy. On this day the teachers and students lost their beloved “Coach Griffin.”
Coach Griffin — Douglas G. “Bubba” Griffin Jr. of Chatsworth — had been a teacher for almost two decades. He had taught at several schools around the county. He was a great friend and mentor to those students which he taught. The announcement of his death at the school was followed by a moment of silence. Many tears flowed as all remembered their fun-loving, always smiling P.E. teacher.
The Bagley softball team paid special tribute to Coach Griffin as they wore bracelets that read “Bubba” on them when they took on Eastbrook Middle School that Monday. They won the game 14-1, and they dedicated the remainder of their season to Coach Griffin.
Coach Griffin will be forever in the hearts of the Bagley Middle School students who he touched in so many ways.
