One of the men arrested in a drug bust this week that netted more than a pound of methamphetamine had additional charges filed against him on Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, according to an arrest report.
The new charges against Jeffrey Lamar McGuire, 39, of 2502 Hill View Drive in Dalton, are felony theft by taking, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony theft by deception, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, second degree criminal damage to property, fleeing, reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, failure to stop at a stop sign, felony failure to appear, improper passing, hit and run, willful obstruction of law officers, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, battery, escape and child support violation.
McGuire was wanted at the time of his arrest for a felony probation violation. He was charged Tuesday with trafficking in meth, possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of tools for the commission of a crime — all felonies — and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
On Tuesday as part of the arrest during a meth trafficking investigation, two other people were arrested and charged.
Kenneth Scott Gribble, 48, also of 2502 Hill View Drive, is charged with possession with intent to distribute meth, trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, all felonies.
April Michelle Barton, 39, of 5867 Red Bud Road in Ranger, is charged with conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, trafficking in meth, possession with intent to distribute meth and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, all felonies.
All three suspects are still in the Whitfield County jail, a spokesman said. A date for a Superior Court bond hearing was not given.
