The “A Dream” (Animal Disaster Relief, Emergency Assistance and More) relief organization has been organized to help pet and animal owners find proper care for pets in need through disaster relief, food assistance and containment compliance.
A Dream was organized due to recent developments in the five-county area of Whitfield, Murray, Walker and Catoosa counties in northwest Georgia, and Hamilton County in Tennessee, said Danielle Keith.
“We decided to form this organization due to recent natural events and economic hardships in our area,” she said. “(It’s) an effort to help individuals keep their pets in their families despite the hardships.”
The disaster relief portion of the organization is intended to provide disaster readiness, response and relief for domesticated animals in case of another large-scale weather event, according to a brochure. A Dream will also make an effort to help individuals stricken by all forms of disasters, whether it is a community-wide or family-centered disaster.
A food pantry currently provides cat and dog food for low- to no-income families.
For information or to volunteer call Keith at (706) 313-4463 or (706) 500-7020. Websites are www.adreamcharity.org and facebook.com/ADREAMcharity.
