The Dalton Public Works Department will install new traffic control devices on Shugart Road near the North Dalton Bypass and Tampico Way Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Officials say they may have to close one lane during the work.
The Dalton City Council voted 4-0 in January to ban left turns into and out of Tampico Way. The change had been requested by the Public Works Department and the Dalton Police Department, citing the number of accidents at Tampico and Shugart.
Public Works Director Benny Dunn said in January his department would place plastic “traffic delineators” along Shugart to keep people from turning left out of Tampico. They will also help keep drivers from turning left from Shugart into the Racetrac convenience store at that intersection, or from the Racetrac into southbound Shugart.
Dunn noted the city has already barred motorists from turning left from Shugart into the Racetrac, but many drivers still make that turn.
