DALTON —
The Dalton-Whitfield Community Foundation is accepting fall grant request applications through March 31, 2010, according to board chairwoman Linda Blackman.
“We are proud of the work that we do,” said Blackman, who has served on the foundation’s board of directors for more than five years. “Along with promoting and facilitating acts of charity in and around Whitfield County, we also award small grants to local nonprofit organizations and churches twice each year: fall and spring.”
Blackman added that the foundation awarded just under $25,000 to local groups last fall.
“We awarded grants to organizations such as Alzheimer’s Association, Charlie Company, Army Reserve, the GreenHouse and Save Our American Raptors,” Blackman said.
In addition to these grants, the foundation has committed $50,000 to the Grow Greater Dalton initiative.
According to Blackman, grants are typically under $5,000, supporting a multitude of projects each year that create opportunity, nurture both individual and family self-sufficiency, target root causes of problems, and foster collaboration within the Whitfield County community.
The Dalton-Whitfield Community Foundation welcomes applications from organizations that provide services to Whitfield County and have tax exempt status. To apply for a fall grant, visit www.communityfoundationnwga.org and complete the online application before the March 31 deadline. Grant recipients will be announced in April or May.
