Area residents will have an opportunity to show their support for their veterans on Saturday during the annual Veterans Day Parade.
The parade has been organized in 10 of the last 11 years by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. This year’s parade starts at 10 a.m., and participants will start to line up at 9 a.m. The parade will have a new route this year, taking it down Hamilton Street for the first time in years.
There are more than 70 entries this year, including high school marching bands from Coahulla Creek, Dalton, Murray County, North Murray, Northwest Whitfield and Southeast Whitfield, and a band from North Whitfield Middle School.
The grand marshal is Bob Turner, past national commander of the American Legion. Dalton Mayor David Pennington will appear in the parade in a horse-drawn carriage.
