A cruelty to a child charge has been dropped against Ruth Elizabeth Reynolds, who was 71 when she was arrested in August 2012.
A Whitfield County grand jury accepted the district attorney’s recommendation to dismiss the charge “based on the circumstances and Ms. Reynolds’ lack of any prior record,” District Attorney Bert Poston said.
Poston said the incident happened during a custody exchange between Reynolds, who is the child’s grandmother, and a parent.
“Apparently there was some physical scuffle that involved the children, and one of the children received a very small scratch on the arm near the elbow,” Poston said.
