Wintry mix ices bridges (Updated at 8 p.m.)

Several roads in Murray County were closed as of Saturday evening, officials said.

They include Mill Creek Road, Old CCC Camp Road beginning at the end of the pavement and Old Ga. Highway 2 beginning at the intersection of Cowpen.

Murray County remains under a winter storm warning until 10 a.m. Sunday.

A brief snow and wintry mix in Whitfield and Murray counties caused several bridges to ice over earlier Saturday.

911 operators said at about 1 p.m. Saturday crews were on the way to salt the areas that need it, but motorists should use caution if they have to be out.

The National Weather Service issued an advisory for Whitfield County in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday for a mixture of sleet and snow for several northwest Georgia counties with possible accumulations up to six inches in some of the higher elevations in Murray County.
