The Whitfield County Democratic Committee will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Mack Gaston Community Center on Fredrick Street in Dalton. The time has changed from previous meetings.
This will be the first meeting of the year, held by the newly elected officers: Chairman John Anthony, First Vice Chairman Sherie Luffman, Second Vice Chairman Wilma Gibson, Third Vice Chairman Jafar Ware, Fourth Vice Chairman Tom Phipps, Treasurer Pat Gross and Secretary Misty Luffman.
The committee will discuss its goals for the next two years: reaching out to all communities in Whitfield County, promoting diversity and tolerance, and working together to strengthen and grow the Democratic Party in Whitfield County.
Everyone who has an interest in helping the Democratic Party grow in Whitfield County is invited.

‘It was a brutal time’

Dr. William Blackman opened a box of tools consisting of medical instruments, including a saw, and proceeded to tell visitors how they were used more than a century ago to amputate limbs for soldiers wounded on the battlefield.
