Snow in the forecast

North Georgia residents could see the first snow of the year this afternoon.

The National Weather Service is predicting rain for today that could change into snow as temperatures fall during the afternoon and evening.

The winter storm watch is in effect from this afternoon through Friday morning. Two to four inches of snow could accumulate across the northeast and northwest Georgia mountains while the rest of the area could see an inch or less, according to the advisory.

Friday’s forecast is sunny with a high near 45.
