CHATSWORTH — Gather your children and your fishing gear and come on over to Johnny Peeples’ pond for the Annual Kids Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, June 9. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Forest Service are sponsoring this year’s free fishing event to celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week.
The pond is located on Old CCC Camp Road, 3.5 miles east of Eton.
“This is a great opportunity for children to enjoy a day of fishing,” says Conasauga District Ranger Michele Jones.
Children 15 years old and younger may enter the rodeo, and should bring their own fishing pole, bait and tackle, as these items are not provided. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and fishing will begin promptly at 8 a.m. Registration and fishing will continue until 11 a.m.
For more information, please call the Conasauga Ranger District office in Chatsworth at (706) 695-6736 or the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Game Management office at (706) 295-6041.
